As for me, I drink a cup of coffee once a week or sometimes once every three or four weeks so I have complete control over my coffee drinking.   2. I knew that caffeine helped rev up your metabolism but I never thought about it helping improve your workouts or helped in losing weight. I know many people love coffee and the smell of it. I like the smell of coffee but have not been able to drink much of it as I don’t like the taste.

    Do you have any recommendations that would help me to start enjoying coffee like most of the rest of the world?

    1. Hi Rick,
      You will start to enjoy coffee once you start to drink it with others but the truth remains that everybody has a choice of what to eat and what not to eat. Remember drinking coffee is for those who want to loose weight, for enjoyment and for taste of it. If none of the above leads you into enjoying coffee, there is no need to force yourself. Moreover the advice is to drink it not more than five times a day since it has its own cons.

    What a wonderful article on coffee! Really appreciate you sharing this information. Honestly I learned a lot reading your article. I knew that coffee has some benefits but did not realize how many until I read your article.
    I typically have 2-3 cups in the morning before I leave the house to go to work. Every once in a while I have to meet someone over coffee in the morning and that pushes me to 4 cups which I know is too much.
    I am an avid workout person and have used coffee to fuel my workouts as you mention here. It’s worked great!

  4. I’m a big coffee drinker. I’ve got two Nespresso machines at home and a Bialetti Moka Express. At work I drink coffee from one of those coffee vending machines. Although they actually crush the beans, the coffee is not that good…

    I tend to drink around 6 coffees per day, but I try to lessen my daily consumption so.

    What’s your opinion on coffee vending machines? Our machine looks nasty all the time, as I the firm who does maintenance, only comes by 1 or 2 times a week…

    1. You have the purpose of which you drink your coffee. It may be hobby of which you say you drink up 6 cups a day though it contains a lot of health benefit but it is not something you can take more frequently as it will be taking away from sleep. If you are taking coffee as to lose weight make sure to combine it with chlorogenic acid as it helps to emulsify fat.

      I have good opinion about coffee vending machine, you mentioning it here has been a food for thought for me. To be reviewed in my next post.

  5. The most I would drink is one cup a day. It helps tremendously to kickstart my morning hours and love the fact that I could have some quiet time doing some reading or blogging at the same time. But I make sure to drink at least one glass of water soon after I finish my coffee to counter the diuretic effect that could lead to mild dehydration in the afternoon. 

    1. Great cathy, as I said in the previous comment that everybody has a reason why they do things they do. Yours is a typical example. You drink yours for alertness  only and would not want the duirectic part of it and that is why you drink water.

    Your post was interesting and also entertaining giving me some unknown facts. Every day some 2.25 billion cups of coffee worldwide, that is a huge amount. For sure it shows it is our favorite drink. 

    What I found interesting is the fact that people who drink 2 to 4 cups a day are 50% less inclined to commit suicide, a very positive fact.

    I drink 1 cup at around 11.00 and 1 special cup like at 16.00. My coffee booster is filled with some healthy things like cinnamon, beer yeast, collagen, a piece of black chocolate, Maca, potato starch and Psyllium, and some of the good Stevia and a shot of Coconut milk.

      Many people are addicted to coffee that they drink coffee up to 6 cups in a day, lol. Your is within normal and you fall among the categories who may not commit suicide.     Does a sweetener like stevia have any effect on the benefits of drinking coffee after each meal?  

    If you have a hard time falling asleep after drinking coffee in the evening, what should you do?

      sweetener is just to make your coffee palatable. I have no knowledge of after effect of sweetener in any drink apart from making that drink sweet.

      If you find out that you don’t sleep when you drink coffee in the evening I advise you to stop taking in the evening  times but rather choose another period of the day that is suitable for you.

  8. I think I may be drinking a bit too much coffee each day, but I have a job where there isn’t much happening at some periods. The goto time-killer is “another cup of coffee”.

    I also believe that because coffee is a social drink, we actually consume more than we “have to”. And like you said, it’s a diuretic which can be bad for your body in excess amounts (dehydration).

      Coffee seems to be a social drink but every individual measure how much to drink depending on taste and need. For me, I drink for pleasure so I can only take twice a day which is good for me and I take decaffeinated. If you want to enjoy the benefit of coffee 2-5 cups a day is recommended watching how your body accepts it.

  9. Well I have learned something new today!  I didn’t realise the benefits to drinking coffee.  I will definitely consider your advice around when to drink it before exercising, as this may help me on my battle to lose weight.

    I tend to have a couple of coffees in the morning, which to be honest I only started drinking coffee when my son was born. I tend to not drinking it after 2pm, just in case it affects my sleep.

  10. Coffee has been my staple diet all my life.  I used to drink 2 coffee pots of coffee between 5:30 and 6:45 when I was working. That kept me going all day until supper.  Now I know this will horrify a lot of people but I have consumed large amounts of coffee for 45 years and it has never affected my sleeping habits

    These last few years I try and drink it without sugar and there is nothing better than a decent pot of brewed coffee. Awesome stuff and it helps with the weight!

      A great comment, People like you are rare but looking at your figure you would have been obese if not coffee. Your body mechanism fully accepted coffee no matter how much you drank it didn’t affect you. So everybody must check for the amount which is good for them. Some people may complain of sleeplessness after a cup or two some may complain of headaches and so on.
